 Our Christmas Mantle
I love this time of year. Unfortunately, I am sick with the flu. It has been going on for about 2 weeks. Thank God I have my little helper, my daughter. She's eleven years old, but very capable, especially around the house. Every year we bake and decorate a gingerbread house. This year she pretty much handled the task on her own, while I gazed with amazement. She is definitely a chip off the old block! She loves to bake and make cakes, just like Mom. I am sure one day she will have her own cooking blog!

She helped decorate the tree. We made extra gingerbread man and gingerbread snowflake cookies for the tree and mantle as well. The Christmas tree topper is a copy of the one I had as a child in the 60's. It does not compare with the original, but it does make me happy. The original would light up the whole room with a spinning ball, similar to a disco ball with all the colors of the rainbow. It was beautiful. This one spins, but the colors do not engulf the room.

On the mantle we just painted wooden bird houses that we got from a local craft store, and put iridescent glitter on them. Some greenery, silk poinsettias, holiday figures, electric candles, gingerbread man and ginger snowflake cookies, round glass ornaments and that is it.

For all of you who celebrate Christmas, Chanukah or any other Holiday, I hope you all our having fun decorating and getting ready for your Holidays.

As you can see, in my home we celebrate Christmas. It is such a joyous time of year, but most importantly we must remember all of those who are in need. This is also a time of year to open our hearts and minds, after all it is a celebration of Christ's Birth and one of the most important things he preached was loving one another! AMEN!
